Do you ever struggle with not knowing what to say in a difficult situation with staff?  This course will assist directors, lead teachers, and administrators to have conversations with their staff members in times of crisis and/or when sensitive and emotionally charged issues are present. Strategies will be presented which allow for both parties to feel heard, while at the same time, working toward a mutually agreed upon resolution to the issue at hand.
 

Learning Objectives

Upon completion, the student will be able to:

1. Define crisis and describe its physiological and psychological impact.
2. Describe the key components of verbal de-escalation strategies.
3. Discuss/practice effective, trauma-informed strategies to use in crisis situations
