Positive racial identity has been linked to a number of encouraging academic outcomes, even in very young children. This PD opportunity will expose ECE leaders and Directors to strategies that promote positive racial identity for African American children.

Participants will be able to:

1. Understand and describe racial awareness development.
2. Develop & use strategies to assist staff in promoting and supporting children's healthy racial awareness.
3. Apply techniques in working with staff and families to generate conversations and activities that support
children's positive racial identity.
