Observation provides a window into the child's thinking processes, interests, skills and abilities.  Use anecdotal notes to record observations of young children and discuss how to use this valuable information to inform program decisions and the assessment of children.  Video clips will be used to practice observation skills.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion, the learner will be able to:

List reasons to keep written records of observations of children.
Define ways to conduct observations that are objective and free of bias.
Use anecdotal notes to record observations of children and apply that information to program planning and child assessment.
